Event Description

The “green” economy with its emphasis on sustainable practices for chemical use has brought new responsibilities for EH&S professionals, particularly those with responsibilities for laboratory safety. The University of Washington Department of Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences (UW DEOHS) Continuing Education Programs is offering a one-day professional development course on best ‘green’ practices for laboratories. Course content will include information on designing for pollution prevention, communication strategies, waste management, and chemical selection and will be targeted to people who are responsible for laboratory safety. The purpose of the course is to identify best practices and share case studies for sustainable laboratories including those to improve the selection, evaluation, and use of chemicals in the laboratory.
